12 Weeks!

Well, I’ve made it to 12 weeks!  That is so exciting!  Technically I’m in the first trimester until 14 weeks though so I’ll celebrate that in a few more days.  Our doctor’s appointment on Tuesday was awesome!  We did have to wait 1 ½ hours to get in, but other than that it went great.  I hadn’t gained any weight based on their numbers, but by my records I’ve gained about two so far.  My blood pressure was great and the doctor couldn’t find the heartbeat using the Doppler so she pulled out the ultrasound machine!  It was amazing!  Baby E was moving and shaking and putting on a big show for us.  We saw his/her head, umbilical cord, hands, feet and even fingers and toes.  It was incredible!  We just wanted to keep watching.  Our doctor was impressed with how active the baby was and said that when people ask her if her job is boring she replies, “Not when I get to see miracles every day!”  We got to share our story with her and it was just a great appointment.  I’ll go back to this doctor’s office once more before we leave training and then it’s on to doctor number three!

Here’s my 12-week pic….not much different from last week, though Drew told me today he thinks I might get big because I’m already showing a lot.  I don’t think I’m showing that much but hey, he’s entitled to his opinion!  :-)

We also got our second and third baby gifts this week!  (The first was a picture frame from our friends Ryan and Casey!)  Our stateside liaison gave us a cute fabric book with pull-outs and a mirror and fuzzy animals inside.  Then on Saturday we got a gift from Aunt Olivia and family and it was a really soft baby blanket.  So exciting!  Here they are…

Finally, Drew and I went to a city park on a river on Saturday.  It was really pretty and had a bunch of rocks you could climb on.  Before we made it there we stopped at another beautiful park and walked around a little bit.  Richmond has some nice stuff!

That’s it for this week.  We’re looking forward to seeing family and friends this coming weekend in Raleigh!  Enjoy our pics from our day in the parks…

I'm glad you like the blanket. They are the perfect swaddling blankets. Big enough but not too heavy. LOVE THEM. You can't find that size anywhere but BabiesRUs. Love you guys and TOO excited to be an Aunt!
