Lately...

We haven't done anything really exciting lately which is why I haven't blogged but I figured I should write something since it's been more than a week.

I started a new job this week. I will be working in our church's sending office part-time until we leave in June. I'm really excited because this will enable me to do two of my favorite things almost every day: organize lots of stuff and support the work going on overseas and close to home of sharing the gospel with others. We have our annual festival at the end of February so the next month will be crazy but it should be good.

A new treat I've discovered this week is Jello Mousse Temptations. I had a coupon so I tried them out in the Dark Chocolate Decandence flavor and they are awesome! Only 60 calories and such a delicious, rich chocolate flavor. I'm impressed.

On a slightly more spiritual note, I've been reading the book "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. Blake got it for us for Christmas and it has been a very challenging and enjoyable read. The author really focuses on getting us to think about the extravagant love God has for us and how we respond to that love. He especially challenges us to think about how we spend our time and resources and about our desires for comfort and safety. It's made me think about my commitment to giving and my mindset of comfort. Do I value my comfort above everything else, even as we plan to go overseas? What am I willing to sacrifice for my comfort? How generous am I to others? How much do I love my stuff? All of these answers reflect on my love for Christ. I've been very convicted and encouraged. It's an easy read and has internet resources to go along with it. I'd highly recommend the book.

Finally, we've been working on learning some of the language we'll be speaking when we live overseas. Now that is a humbling experience! We know that everything we can learn now will help us when we get there though so we'll press on.

Okay, that's all for now. Hopefully I'll get back to my quilt this week and have some more pictures to share soon.

Interesting that I have to find out that the pudding sitting in our fridge is good from our blog. I want everyone to know that I suspect Leslie didn't tell me it was good because she thought I might eat it but since you all don't visit our fridge every day it was safe. Hmmm...I hope some is left!
