Soli Nav

As most of you know people here mostly don't celebrate Christmas. They do however celebrate New Year's, or Soli Nav as they say in Tajik. They have trees, gifts and a Santa figure called Bobo Barfi (which means Grandfather Snow.) This holiday is not anything like Christmas in America as far as people's involvement goes but there are decorations up around town and it makes for quite a festive feel during the Christmas season. We went out and about one night to see the lights and the big tree in the center of town. We tried to get Eliana to talk to Bobo Barfi but she wouldn't do it. He is still "a little scary." Next year!
