Making Myself Useful

Over the past couple of weeks I've been trying to help out with our play group by pitching in with crafts and activities.  This is certainly not my strong suit, but with the internet anyone can find fun projects for kids.

My friend leading the group found a fun idea for a traffic light bean bag toss to use with our transportation unit.  She knows I have a sewing machine, showed me a picture and asked me to make it.  I figured, why not?  Something fun and easy for the kids is a winner with me!

So, here is my little creation...

I actually made two sets of beanbags so the kids can play against each other.  It was a really easy and fun project and turned out pretty nicely I think.  I just used a pan lid to trace circles, cut out the black fabric, zig-zag stitched the circles on the fabric, sewed the two pieces of black like a pillow and made the bean bags.  Probably a two-hour project and now we have a huge traffic light and two sets of bean bags.  I'm glad my sewing machine is continuing to come in handy!

PS- The kids loved it too and had a great time working on their colors and their throwing skills yesterday.
