18 Months

Well, Jadon turned 18 months old last week! Craziness! He is so fun these days and seems to be changing so fast. It's just amazing and so great getting to watch him grow up. He's up to 27 pounds now which is around 85%! I can't believe he's so big! He has the most adorable belly too and it just sticks out as he walks. I love it, especially since Eliana was always so tiny. He's around 31.5in based on our measurements, which is only 18%. Ha!

He does still love to eat but definitely has reached the picky stage. He'll throw his food if he doesn't want it and sometimes won't eat things he used to eat, like eggs. If he sees something else on the table he likes better he'll refuse to eat what we're giving him at the time. It's so fun! He really enjoys "using" his spoon and fork. He does an okay job getting food in his mouth with them but mostly he likes to hold one in one hand and then eat his food with the other. He loves milk and drinks it three times a day and water the rest of the time. His constipation has been much better and he's not had any medicine in months. I'm so thankful! We definitely keep him eating his fruit but I'm so glad it's not a big problem right now.

Our little guy is always on the move, which is one reason these pictures aren't so great. He just wants to be going all the time. He climbs everything so I have to keep my eyes on him. He likes to "jump", which is so adorable, and dances and sings with Eliana. We have a little truck he can ride on and he does a great job going forwards and backwards around the apartment. He will find anything he can to become a stool and climb up to reach things. Oh, and he throws everything...he loves it! We have to keep our eyes open for that too.

He doesn't say many words but has said a few so far- yay, whoa, bump (for fistbump), ball and shoes. He may have said Mama but that's up in the air still. He really just doesn't feel the need to chat. He makes lots of noise and communicates with us well but doesn't use words. He sometimes will point to his belly when we ask him but he really isn't interested in anything like that yet. He still likes to look at his books and every morning I give him books in his crib and it entertains for a long time. He's not pointing at much yet either. He's definitely a bit shy around strangers but warms up pretty quickly, especially if we're at our apartment.

Jadon has a very sweet demeanor and also is a noticer like Eliana. You can tell he's looking at things and trying to figure them out. He also notices people and the other day when Eliana was feeling sick he quickly went to her and started rubbing her head to help her feel better. It was so adorable! They really do great together. I'm so thankful! One of the things I mourned as we waited to have another child was a sibling that Eliana could play with and enjoy. I thought they would just be too far apart to enjoy each other. But so far, they really do have fun together and play together pretty well. It just fills my heart with thanksgiving to see these gifts God has given me loving each other and enjoying each other!

Jadon definitely loves going outside and he often goes and gets his shoes from the rack so he can let us know he's ready to get moving. He loves to go out and walk and he loves to ride in the stroller. He loves going to Aladdin to play and usually if we walk by there and don't go in he pitches a fit- the toddler fit where they go limp and fall on the ground- yep, he does that too! He like to tackle us and play on the floor, gives us a run for our money when we're doing school and does get mad when he doesn't get his way. Oh yeah, we're in the phase of dropping the morning nap (so sad!) so there are lots of lunches these days where he's falling asleep while he's eating but he's doing great and we'll get there. I think this is the hardest nap to drop. And I forgot to mention that he loves to give kisses! He'll come at you with his pucker lips and lay one right on you, even if you're on the other side of the iPad! It melts all of our hearts!

Man, we are so blessed! Jadon has definitely captured our hearts and brings so much joy and fun to our family. We are just so thankful for him and his first 18 months!
