Going Back to My Roots

Some of you may know that I have a microbiology degree, which I obviously don't make much use of these days! So, when the chance to do a bacteria experiment came up in our science book I decided that it sounded like fun. We first tried making our own agar using recipes I found on-line but it would liquify at room temp and since you can grow bacteria so well that way I was excited when my friend discovered some old agar down in our homeschool library! Score!

So, we used the agar, swabbed four surfaces in our apartment and let the bacteria grow. And it worked! It was a perfect experiment by any means but it was our first and it was fun. Made me a little more excited about doing school at home.
