Day in the Village

On Wednesday we had the chance to go with one of our local co-workers and his wife out to a village and spend the day with one of their relatives. Our friend wanted to treat us to day of rest and relaxation and show us a beautiful place where his family lives. We were encouraged to have the opportunity and thankful that he asked.

Overall the trip went really well and we had a good time. We were there for six hours so I was definitely ready to go by the end but it was fun to get out of the city for a day, enjoy some cooler temperatures, eat lunch outside by a river and let Eliana play with some new children. It was also fun to talk with our friends and get to know them better. There were some stressful things, like being asked uncomfortable questions, being told to eat more over and over and trying to entertain a tired three-year-old, but like I said, overall it was a good day and we were thankful for the opportunity. We hope for more similar opportunities in the future.

Beautiful view from their yard

Eliana quickly jumped in playing with the kids.

A view of the house from where we sat and hung out

The ladies' spot- the guys sat somewhere else because apparently we have a lot to talk about they don't need to hear. :-)

 Beautiful water view

A closer view of the bridge we drove across to get to the house...you definitely pray a lot more when driving around here!

The gate from the yard to the river area

Eliana took this picture of our co-worker.

She also took this one of her daddy.

Our little food spread without the main dishes

 Such a silly girl!

Our co-worker's wife is on the right, her aunt is in the middle and the girl is the aunt's youngest daughter

I love getting to be reminded of how much taller I am than everyone here!

Drew told the ladies that this picture would be "American style", i.e. they had to smile for this one! :-)
