As most of you all know we took a trip to the even more mountainous region of our country this past week. We have friends and teammates who live out east and we've always wanted to go visit this part of the country so decided to finally take the plunge and do it. It's only around 400 miles away but the trip takes about 17-18 hours because of the road conditions, hence why we'd not ever been before. It was a great trip though and we are so glad we went! Our friends, Matt and Cindy, were awesome hosts and it was so great to see the mountains and enjoy God's incredible creation at 8,200 feet up. We also now understand their lives much better and can much more effectively pray for and support them. It's amazing how actually seeing a place changes your perspective!
Drew was able to go out one day and see a couple of places where our friends are helping to respond to disasters. This time of year it's usually landslides from snow melt. The rocks just come falling down the mountains taking out whatever is in their paths and often causing flooding. I'm excited we have people out there to help. I hung around the house with the kids and Cindy. We had fun cooking, walking around and chatting with people and just hanging out. I'm thankful for God bringing us together and giving us such a sweet friendship.
We took lots of pictures so I'll put a few up and then you can look at them all at the bottom if you are interested. Oh and just to be clear, NONE of these pictures are photoshopped! It really is that beautiful!

Taking a break on the ride up
View down the road from our friend's house
Really, really tall snow-capped mountain
Yes, the sky really was that blue
This is where the recent landslide came down.
These houses were hit by the landslide.
The most wooded area of this country we have ever seen
Can you say beautiful?
Cool, panoramic shot
Yep, those mountains are big!
The view from our friend's house
Their huge yard and garden
Outhouse living
Eliana picked out her clothes and bows that day.
It's hard to get good pictures of Eliana these days so I was very impressed with this one! She is so beautiful!
Eliana gave our little friend LOTS of kisses during the week!
