Leper Colony

Monday afternoon Eliana and I went with one of our co-workers to visit a leper colony she is involved with.  This is a place about one hour outside of the city where people with this disease come to live and get care.  Often their families come too, but this is a group of people often forgotten and neglected.

We took some medicine for the people there and then just hung out and visited some.  It was good to go and be reminded of how much I have and soften my heart once again for those in need, who are numerous in this country.  One woman was there who'd recently been kicked out of her home because of her children having fights with the other children in the house.  She had no where to go so she came there hoping she could work and help out and have a place to stay.  Oh how we have so much!

I didn't take many pictures because it felt awkward.  I got a few of the scenery, which was beautiful.  Eliana seemed to have a good time and wasn't afraid of any of the people even though some of them are disfigured due to their disease.  I also enjoyed seeing my co-worker loving on these people who have come to mean so much to her.

Here are the few shots I got...

Our office put that building in with a water pump so they don't have to walk far to get water.

I am thankful for opportunities to get out and see new things and hopefully be a blessing to those we visit!
